CARING FOR THE WORLD'S TOUGHEST DENIM

WASHING YOUR DENIM

Ultimately, the best way to care for your denim is to wash it as little as possible. Not only do washing detergents strip colour, they slowly break down the cotton fibres that make up denim fabric.

SA1NT knows you’ll be using your denim in some tough environments and when it does come time for a wash, following the steps below will ensure your denim goes the distance:

FOLLOW THESE STEPS

• Where possible, rather than wash the whole garment, spot-clean stains with a damp cloth or baby wipe by dabbing the stain until it’s removed. Don’t rub the stain, as this can strip the dye from the denim

• If the whole garment needs to be washed, hand washing is your best bet to keep your denim in top condition:

• If machine washing, follow the same process above – turn the garment inside out and wash it in cold water with the least amount of detergent possible. One tablespoon of detergent is all you need for a full load

• Always air dry your denim indoors or out of the sun, as direct sunlight can cause the denim to fade. Keep denim turned inside out while drying. Air drying, rather than machine drying, will help minimise colour loss and fabric shrinkage.

SHIRTS AND JACKETS

Wash and iron shirts inside out and always follow the care instructions to maintain colour and shape. As always, wash with similar colours to avoid colour transfer.

Washing jackets should be kept to a minimum and spot-cleaning marks and stains is recommended. If required, follow denim cleaning guide outlined above.

Stick to these steps and you’ll have long-lasting, hard-wearing denim that looks great for years to come.

FREQUENTLY ASKED DENIM CARE QUESTIONS

SHOULD I USE BLEACH OR STAIN REMOVERS?

Steer clear of bleach and stain removers. The chemicals contained in these products break down the cotton fibres of the denim and severely reduce its lifespan.

CAN YOU DRY CLEAN SA1NT DENIM?

Don’t dry-clean your denim. Like bleach, the harsh chemicals used in the dry-cleaning process damage and break down the cotton

LIQUID OR POWDERED DETERGENT?

Liquid detergent is softer on fabric than powdered detergent, and will also prevent soap residue being left on your garment

DOES SA1NT DENIM FADE?

All denim will fade over time. This is more evident in darker washes (indigo and black) than lighter washes, as the contrast becomes greater

BEST COLOURS TO WASH DENIM WITH?

Always wash your denim with similar colours, light with light and dark with dark. This will reduce the chance of colour bleeding when washing

HOW DO I REMOVE ODOURS?

To remove odours from your denim without washing, often your best bet is to simply air out the garment. To speed up this process, you can either tumble dry on the lowest temperature setting or use a steam iron.
